Tour M-802: Israeli History & Wine Discover

Tour Overview

Explore the biblical significance & modern history of the country while discovering Israel’s wines.

Day 1 - Thursday: Welcome to Israel!

You will be greeted at the airport by a representative from Mazada Tours.

Transfer to accommodations in Tel Aviv.

Day 2: Wine & History on the Western Coast

After breakfast at your hotel, drive to the ancient port city of Caesarea where you will explore the archaeological ruins and excavations where gladiators once competed.

Visit the national park and ancient port, tour the Roman Hippodrome and amphitheater.

From here, we will visit a winery to learn about the story of Israel’s wine industry, understand the winemaking process, and sample some products.

Continue to Zikron Yaacov, one of the first towns built in Israel during the modern era and sponsored by the Baron Edmund de Rothschild.

Walk along the cobblestone streets and learn about the life of the pioneers.

Visit the main street, a pedestrian zone lined with cafes, galleries, and boutique art stores.

Continue to Ramat Hanadiv, “The Donor Heights,” named for Baron Edmond de Rothschild who made a number of significant contributions to the establishment of the State of Israel.

Walk through the stunning variety of gardens (Fragrance Garden, Cascade Garden, Rose Garden, and Palm Garden).

Transfer back to the hotel in Tel Aviv.

Day 3: Wine & Biblical History on the Southeastern Coast

After breakfast at your hotel, we will drive along the southern coast highway towards the ancient city of Ashkelon. Ashkelon is one of the oldest cities in Israel and its history goes back more than 6,000 years.

It is especially famous for being one of ancient Philistines’ major cities and a setting in the biblical story of Samson.

Enjoy the promenade of the marina on the Mediterranean seashore, and walk between beautiful trees and historical buildings.

From there, continue on to Bet Guvrin, a magical park with hundreds of caves.

The caves are the excavated remains of Maresha, an ancient Biblical city.

Maresha was part of the original Judean Kingdom and changed hands as various foreign armies invaded the area.

Stop at the Tel Maresha winery to learn about the family winery and its history.

Enjoy the unique flavors and aromas of the region’s wine.

Transfer back to the hotel in Tel Aviv.

Day 4 - Sunday: Departure

Check out of your hotel and transfer to Ben Gurion airport for your departure.
