M-814: East – West City Break Tour
You will be greeted at the airport by a representative from Mazada Tours.
Transfer to accommodations in Tel Aviv.
After being picked up from your hotel, start your Jerusalem Old & New Day Tour with a view of the Mount of Olives and Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus spent his last night before the crucifixion. You will then enter the walls of the Old City by foot. Taking the narrow winding streets through the Armenian and Jewish Quarters, you will walk the 1,500-year-old Cardo road.
Continue to the Kotel, also known as the Western Wall or the Wailing Wall, where you will be able to feel the ancient stones beneath your fingertips and feel free to place handwritten notes between the cracks*.
After this, you will walk the Via Dolorosa, known as the path that Jesus walked during the crucifixion and marked by the Stations of the Cross. You will arrive to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, where Jesus was crucified, buried, and is believed to have been resurrected.
Next, you will proceed to Yad Vashem, where you will explore a more recent event in history: The Holocaust. Whereas many Holocaust museums across the country leave people in despair, Yad Vashem’s final message is one of hope and looking to the future, ending on a balcony with a panoramic view of Jerusalem. Please note that on Saturday’s and Jewish holidays, Yad Vashem is closed. Thus, on these days you will instead visit Ein Karem, known as the birthplace of John the Baptist.
After your tour, you will be returned to your hotel.
*NOTE: Modest dress (no shorts or sleeveless shirts) and head covering are required for visiting holy places such as the Western Wall.
After pick-up from your hotel, proceed for a beautiful drive along the coast to Caesarea. History fans will love exploring the archaeological ruins and excavations of this ancient city where gladiators once competed.
Next, you will proceed to Haifa, the third largest city in Israel. Situated on the slopes of Mount Carmel, take in a gorgeous panoramic view of the city and Mediterranean Sea. Visit the Baha’i Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Continue on to Rosh Hanikra where you will descend by cable car to admire the spectacular underwater grottoes. Lastly, we will visit Acre, one of the oldest cities in the world, which has been continuously inhabited for 4,000 years. This city has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk through the bustling market, the mosque, and the old port. See the remarkable underground Crusader City and crypt while learning about their fascinating history and culture.
After your fulfilling day of sightseeing, you will return to your hotel for overnight.
